Product: set cost of goods (COGS) and shipping cost

In this article, you will learn how to set cost of goods and shipping cost for each product and variant, how COGS batches keep past profit accurate when your cost changes, and how to update many SKUs at once.

Where to find it

Open Product in the left menu, under Profits. The Products table lists every product from your TikTok Shop store.

Use the search box to find a product by name, ID or SKU. Use Status to switch between active and inactive products, and Reset to clear your filters. If you see fewer products than you expect, click Sync at the top right. KixMon brings in all the active products from your TikTok Shop store.

How to add COGS to a product

COGS (cost of goods sold) is what one unit of a product costs you. KixMon takes it away from your sales to show your real TikTok Shop profit.

1. On the Product page, click the green COGS amount for the product.
2. Click Edit COGS.
3. Click the pencil on the first row and type your cost.
4. Click Save and recalculate.

The first row covers all your orders, past and future. For most products, this is all you need.

Products with variants

If a product has variants (for example, sizes or kits), each variant can have its own cost. On the Edit COGS screen, pick the variant on the left, then add its cost. Not set means that variant has no cost yet.

How to update COGS when your cost changes

Costs change. Your supplier raises the price, or a new shipment costs more. In KixMon, you add the new cost with a start date. This is called a batch.

• Orders before the start date keep the old cost.
• Orders from the start date use the new cost.
• Your past profit stays correct.

Add a new cost

1. On the Product page, click the green COGS amount for the product.
2. Click + Add new batch.
3. Pick the Start date: the first day the new cost applies.
4. Type the Cost per unit and click Save batch.

Does a product have several variants that all cost the same? Tick Set new COGS for all variants of the same parent to add the cost to all of them at once.

See all costs for a product

Click the COGS amount, then Edit COGS. You see every cost and the dates it covers. KixMon fills in the end dates for you.

In this example, the Standard kit has three costs:

• Click the pencil to change a cost or its dates.
• Click the bin to delete a cost. Those orders go back to the cost before it. You can click Undo.
• The first row has a lock. You can change its cost, but you cannot delete it.

Shipping cost

How KixMon uses the shipping cost depends on who ships the order:

To set shipping cost, click the Shipping Cost value in the product’s row. To set it for many SKUs at once, use Import.

VAT for UK stores

For UK stores, you can add VAT on the Product page as well as COGS and shipping cost. Use this if you want to set VAT for each product.

To set one VAT rate for your whole shop, use the Settings tab instead.

Import COGS and shipping cost

Import is the fastest way to set costs for many SKUs. You choose whether the new costs apply to all your past orders too, or only to new orders.

1. Click Import at the top right of the Products page.
2. Click Download Template. You get an Excel file with all your SKUs.
3. Fill in the COGS and Shipping Price columns for each Seller SKU. Leave the Seller SKU column as it is.
4. Click Choose file to upload and select your file. Only .xlsx files are accepted.
5. Choose how the new costs apply: to all orders, including past ones, or to new orders only.

Export your product costs

Click Export at the top right of the Products page. You get an Excel file with one row per SKU and these columns: Product ID, Product Name, Seller SKU, COGS and Shipping Price. Use it to check which SKUs still have no cost.
